Saturday 5th May 2018 Henley RFC
This match was played in blazing sunshine in Oxfordshire.
Bucks had a squad made up from 8 different clubs from within the County, from levels 6, 7 and 8.
Oxon had put together a squad from far fewer clubs, who all play at a higher level, so it was always going to be a “tough day at the office”
For the first 30 mins Bucks grafted and held their own against a big, well drilled pack and some quick and skilful backs and we were able to match the opposition scoring rate.
The second half saw Oxon take charge and their superior size and fitness from playing at a much higher level began to tell, as they began to score tries from various parts of the park.
This, coupled with the heat, saw the Bucks players start to fall off tackles as they valiantly tried to stay in the game as Oxon launched attack after attack.
The final score ended Oxon 76 Bucks 27, and we had to be content with a bonus point.
Bucks Man of the match was Aled Lewis from Beaconsfield RFC
