Welcome to the on-line County handbook. The Executive and I really hope that you are finding the version both easy to use and far more up to date? We have had no complaints so far!
Yet again this year’s County AGM was held via the Zoom platform, we felt that in these uncertain times, it was the correct thing to do. It was good to be joined by so many clubs and old friends and we realise that not everyone could make the meeting but we also realise that it has been another very difficult year for a lot of our members, both personally and professionally.
With everything I have crossed, I am still hopeful that come September, we will see our game begin to return to some form of normality, I have really missed being able to watch community rugby. We all have to realise that we will need to continue to embrace and adapt to what is put in front of us. We are rugby.
There are a number of changes that will impact on our game and these are all on the RFU website, if you administer the game in any way, please take time to have a look and keep yourselves up to date.
We have worked really hard with all our clubs during this pandemic and I feel that we are all a lot closer than we have been in the past. We will continue to strive to ensure our clubs are aware, prepared for and ready to move our “game” to the next level.
The RFU themselves have been tremendously supportive of the last 12 months or so and as we get used to the “New ways of working” we hope to be able to contribute even more to the Rugby experience.
I am also aware of just how many of you have given your time freely to ensure your clubs survive this pandemic. This for the most part has been led by your club Chairs and the club Executives and I just want to recognise the leadership and fortitude they have shown throughout this crisis.
Can I take this opportunity to thank all County Exec members for the hard work and for the hours and hours they have put in these last 16 months, most of which goes unseen or noticed by many, but trust me, they have your backs! I would also like to thank our outgoing RFU council member, Chris Smith for his time with us and I would like to congratulate our newly elected Council member, Simon Winman, I wish him well in his new role.
As always, we are here to help in any way we can, from the individual to the club. Please keep yourselves as safe as possible and as the games opens up and grab every opportunity that presents itself.
I wish you all the very best for the season ahead.
Chair, Buckinghamshire RFU
