FOUR Buckinghamshire U18 Players invited to train with South West
The Under 18 Short Season
Buckinghamshire selected a strong and integrated U17& U18 squad to make up the county colts side in the SW Festival. This age group plays without the elite players, three of which have played for England and over 10 of which currently play in a Premiership academy (Wasps, Saints etc) - even without our best players we are a small country that punches above our weight.
Four players have been taken through to train with the South West Squad, we congratulate
No 2 James Forsyth (Marlow RFC & John Hampton GS)
No 9 Will Ellis (Buckingham RFC & Royal Latin GS)
No 10 Max Nagy (Buckingham RFC & Royal Latin GS)
No 12 Craig Coxon (Buckingham RFC & Moulton College)
The selection of the four players who made the spine of the side is a reflection of our style of play – our forwards are not as large as others -our half backs found space and our back three took the points – the selectors sought strength and speed which our games didn’t always demonstrate – we showed winning sprit and intelligent control of territory.
The selected squad of 25 represented 13 different schools and colleges and was drawn from six of our clubs (A&C, Aylesbury, Buckingham, Bletchley, Beaconsfield, and Marlow) - plus players from Maidenhead and Towcester who live in the county but play with clubs outside the county.
Our season now moves on to focus on developing the Under 17 squad after Christmas and integrating with the current Under 16s to prepare for next years SW Festival as Buckinghamshire Colts.
Our new squad will have a big act to follow - the current county colts squad close out the season four from four.
We don’t dwell on the scores BUT in recent weeks Buckinghamshire County Colts have played four and won four out-scoring East Midlands, Gloucestershire, Cornwall and Oxfordshire.
